Apparently, J.Cole came very close to reuniting 50 cent and Nas on his recent Born Sinner album. Read the full interview story here.
“I made that song and didn’t write the hook, I just did the melody. On the original reference I’m humming the melody, but all I did was steal a 50 Cent melody—some shit I would hear 50 singing. I had that song for a year before the album came out. I was like, “Damn, I’d love to get 50 or Nas on this.” Nas was my original plan but he didn’t get the verse done in time. So we had this other kid from Queens named Bas.
Exactly. For hip-hop, period. But really for New York. I wanted that to be a real New York record. This down South nigga coming and putting on for the city because I have a connection. So 50 came to the studio in L.A. to lay the verse and he heard the melody and he was like, “I could tell you was thinking about me when you were doing that melody.” He wrote that shit in five minutes, maybe. It was crazy to see that melody that was in my head come to life with the actual person who I wanted to do it. He gave us three hours worth of game that night, just talking.”
Born Sinner would have been even more of a success had Cole been able to realize his goal.
“Ye just showed off for the first time a picture of his daughter moments ago. The proud father introduced us to his two-month-old daughter North West with Kim Kardashian during his appearance on the finale of Kris Jenner’s talk show.”
Well, earlier this morning, Juicy J promised a $50,000 scholarship to the best student that can twerk. In order to listen to the album for free, visitors would have unlock songs on his virtual stripper game found at Juicy J’s website.
Earlier this year Juicy J was seen with pop singer Miley Cyrus at one of his concerts in Los Angeles, California.
Back in June, Kendrick Lamar received his platinum plaque after good kid, m.A.A.d city shipped over a million copies worldwide. Now, the self-proclaimed “King of New York” has officially sold that amount. Seemingly thanks to the controversy he caused from his “Control” verse, Kendrick Lamar was able to sell another 9,000 this week, making the total sales of his debut album 1,003,000.
Congratulations to Kendrick Lamar and the folks at TDE for achieving such a memorable milestone. Down below is a link to my favorite Kendrick Lamar track and music video:
