I failed to mention this in my Long Time No See post, but Madden 2013 has been out for a little while now and the game play is impressive. The people at EA Sports have developed a new physics engine that takes the laws of physics and applies them to the players in the video game play. This means no more unrealistic movements from the players. Wide receivers will be effected by bump n run coverage, running backs can trip over their full backs/offensive lineman and ton of other things that happen in the real football field. This year’s Madden has been rumored to be labelled Madden 25 in celebration of Madden’s 25 years of successful existence. Below is a trailer for Madden 2013, take a look see:
Another thing that has also impressed me this year is the NFL Draft class of 2013 with the likes of Tavon Austin and Monte Ball. This upcoming NFL season is about to be crazy! I have some footage of the two players below:
Tavon Austin has been compared to Percy Harvin, who has been traded from the Vikings to the Seahawks. Tavon Austin, at a mere 5 foot 9 inches tall and weighing in at 174 lbs, is now a slot receiver for the St. Louis Rams. The Rams are currently a struggling franchise and Tavon hopes to make a difference there this season in their wide receiving corps. Tavon played running back and wide receiver at West Virginia University for the West Virginia Mountaineers and he received All American Honors twice. He played college football from 2009 -2012. During West Virginia’s 70-33 victory in the Orange Bowl, Tavon set an Orange Bowl record of four touchdown receptions. At the 2013 NFL Combine, Tavon ran a 40 time of 4.25 seconds and 20 yard shuttle time of 4.01 seconds. Tavon was the 8th pick in the 1st round.
Montee Ball has been drafted to the Denver Broncos to train among the likes of Peyton Manning, Wes Welker (recently traded from the Patriots), Demaryius Thomas, Champ Bailey, Elvis Dumervil and Von Miller. Montee Ball was among an impressive NFL Draft which included Dion Jordan (WR – Miami Dolphins), Geno Smith (QB – New York Jets), Tavon Austin (WR – St. Louis Rams), Steadman Bailey (WR – St. Louis Rams) and Desmond Trufant (CB – Atlanta Falcons). Ball played football at the University of Wisconsin and was twice recognized as the best overall running back in the Big Ten Conference.
The Big Ten Conference includes the likes of Purdue University, Ohio State University, Northwestern University, University of Minnesota, Michigan State University, University of Wisconsin-Madison, Pennsylvania State University, University of Michigan, University of Iowa, Indiana University, University of Nebraska-Lincoln and University of Illinios at Urbana-Champaigne.
Montee Ball currently holds the NCAA Division I FBS record for most career rushing touchdowns with 77 and most career total touchdowns with 83. During his college career, Montee was able to amass a total of 5,140 rushing yards. Montee Ball stands at 5 foot 10 inches and weighs in at 214 lbs. At the 2013 NFL Combine, Montee Ball ran a 40 time of 4.66 seconds and 20 yard shuttle time of 4.40 seconds. He was the 58th pick in the 2nd round.
